Just remember, when looking for Avis car rental, Heathrow Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. If you plan your journey in advance it should all go off without a hitch.
Ok as you would expect Avis being one of the largest car hire providers in the world, they have a rental desk in all five terminals at London Heathrow airport. When you arrived, and have gone through the mad business of collecting your baggage, just follow the signs to Rental Cars. Heathrow airport has clear signs around the terminals directing passengers to the correct areas.
Avis Heathrow rental station is located on the Northern Perimeter Road. The address for your GPS is Northrop Road, TW6 2QA
Heathrow Terminal 1 – TW6 1AP, The Avis car rental desk in terminal 1, is located just as you come out of arrivals
Heathrow Terminal 2 – TW6 1AP, The Avis Car Rental desk in terminal 2, is located on level 1 – Arrivals and Departures B Gates
Heathrow Terminal 3 – TW6 1QG, The Avis Car Rental desk in terminal 3, are located Level 0 opposite Emirates Chauffer Drive Lounge
Heathrow Terminal 4 – TW6 3XA, The Avis Car Rental Desk in Terminal 4 is in the arrivals area on level 0
Heathrow Terminal 5 – TW6 2GA, Landing at Heathrow Terminal 5? Avis rental cars can be collected and returnded at Heathrow Terminal 5 short-stay car park on Level 4.
To find the Avis car rental desk, come through arrivals, go right and head towards the underground tube station. This is right opposite the Marks & Spencer. Continue past the tube station, through the double doors. Lifts are located to your left and you’ll see a sign directing you to Avis on Level 4.
Take the lift to the short stay car park on Level 4.
The main Avis Heathrow car rental station is located within the airport perimeter and is open 24/7, so you can collect and drop-off your hire car at any time.
To make your journey as simple as possible, they also have a fleet of dedicated Avis shuttle buses which will transport you to and from Terminals 2, 3 and 4.
From Terminal 3 you can get the shuttle from bus stop 17
Terminal 4 it’s bus stop 2.
Terminal 2 you can either take the shuttle from bus stops 7 or 8 or pick up directly from the terminal with the Avis exclusive Fast Track pick-up service.
If you are coming into London Heathrow Terminal 2 and time is of the essence, consider using Avis exclusive Fast Track pick-up service.
With Avis Fast Track, you can step off your flight and head direct to the Avis Rent A Car in-terminal desk at the end of the Arrivals hall to pick up your Avis rental car keys.
Your Avis hire car will be waiting for you just outside the heathrow terminal, in one of the Avis dedicated parking bays, near bus stop 19. Avis do however charge £19.99 for this service. Good if you are in a hurry and need to be somewhere quick.
Please return your hire car to the main Avis Heathrow rental station located on the Northern Perimeter Road. The address for your GPS is Northrop Road, TW6 2QA.
The Journey time is approximately 15 minutes for Terminal 1, 2, 3 and 4 and less than 7 minutes from Terminal 5.
Just remember if you are collecting your Avis Rental Car in peak rush hour times, this journey may take a little longer, so allow some time for this.
So if your lucky to be aged 25 to 75 years of age no problems. If, though you are 23 to 24 years old you will need to pay a Avis young drivers fee currently £32.50 per day; this is capped at £325 so if you’re hiring a rental car long term this is the maximum, you would be required to pay.
You will need to have held a full licence held for a minimum of 2 year with no major endorsements, to hire your car from Avis Heathrow. UK licence holders need to present the photocard part of the licence.
If your driver’s licence is not in the Roman alphabet (i.e. if it is in Arabic, Greek, Cyrillic or Chinese), you will need to bring an International Driving Permit and your domestic licence. For driving licenses from countries not part of the international driving license treaty, an official translation of the license must be presented with the original license.
If you’re a UK driving licence holder, you must present their photocard when hiring a vehicle within the UK or the Republic of Ireland. Customers must go to https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence to create a one-time passcode. This passcode is valid for 21 days and must be presented when picking up your rental vehicle.

Yes as with all major rental car providers at Heathrow Airport Avis require you to have a credit card in your name. Avis Heathrow will pre-authorise the estimated charges of your car rental, along with any deposit needed.
Currently, Avis Heathrow charges the amount of £200 which will be authorised against your credit card for the duration of the rental.
Your deposit is a guarantee held in the event of damage/theft of the Avis vehicle. The amount will be automatically released if there is no theft or damage during the rental period.
Please note that this does not represent your total excess liability to Avis. Please see the section below which details the excess insurance amounts
Avis Heathrow will accept American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard (not prepaid), Visa (not prepaid).
If you fail to present a valid credit card, or there is a lack of satisfactory funds available on the credit card, or the credit card is not in the lead driver’s name, the car rental representative may refuse to release the vehicle.
All rental cars from Avis Heathrow will be fully insured so your completely legal to drive on the UK roads. What will not be covered is the excess in the event of damage or theft to the Avis Rental Car? The excess amount as this is known by is £1000. You can buy Insurance products to cover this amount and would suggest you do a simple internet search for Excess Reimbursement Insurance Products. Of course, Avis Rent A Car Heathrow will have insurance products you can buy from them to cover this but can work out to be more expensive than if you were to buy from an outside insurance provider.
If you are unlucky enough to have a breakdown all Avis Car Rentals come with free breakdown cover. Someone from the AA or the RAC will attend to try and get you going again. If this fails, you would be provided with a new vehicle to continue your journey.
All rental cars from Avis Heathrow Airport will be supplied with a full tank of fuel. Just make sure you ask what fuel the car take. Petrol or diesel? And be sure to return it full as this is the cheapest way. If you do however not have a chance to fill it up you will be charged an admin fee for refuelling the car.
